Role Overview

The Editorial Product Manager at Malaysiakini will play a pivotal role in bridging content creation, technology, and user experience. This position combines the strategic oversight of a Product Manager with a deep understanding of journalism to develop products that are both useful to our audience and profitable for the company. The role focuses on not just the technology behind content delivery but also the content itself and its curation.

Responsibilities

Content and Product Strategy

• Develop and execute strategies that align editorial content with digital product innovation.
• Prioritize content production and product features based on audience needs and business goals.
• Identify and evaluate new opportunities to expand Malaysiakini’s reach and impact.

Product Development and Execution

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products, from ideation to launch.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editors, designers, engineers, and analysts, to create high-quality and user-centric products.
• Lead initiatives to optimize user experience across platforms, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, and impactful.

User-Centric Content Delivery

• Apply design thinking principles to ensure the seamless presentation of content across devices and formats.
• Understand audience behavior and preferences to inform product decisions and content curation.
• Innovate storytelling methods using emerging digital tools and techniques.

Data-Driven Decision Making

• Leverage analytics to measure content and product performance, identifying areas for improvement.
• Use data insights to inform strategic decisions, enhance user engagement, and achieve business objectives.

• Act as a liaison between editorial and technical teams to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient functioning of the business processes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for managing data and reports.

• Experience with inventory management software or other related tools is a plus.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Minimum SPM requirement. Fresh graduates is encourage.

• Responsibilities:
• To take charge of Pre-Contracts and Post Contracts.
• To prepare contract documents.
• To prepare pre-project budget and regularly review and update management on the budgeted cost during implementation of the project to ensure cost within budget for the project.
• To prepare work done certificate, variation orders and final account to sub-contractors in accordance to work certified by consultant.
• To evaluate sub-contractors bid and analyse costing before recommendation to award jobs to sub-contractors.
• To prepare and submission of interim progress claim and ensure work been certified timely and accurately by client/main contractor through site valuation.
• To attend site visit and site meeting as and when required by management.
• To attend to site measurement, taking off quantity, liaise with consultants and client, source for quotations and etc.
• Liaise with consultant on final payment valuation and certificate of making good defect.
• To undertake other ad hoc assignment as required from time to time by the Management.

• Requirements:
• Possession a Degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Minimum 10 years working experience in construction company.
• Possess Project Management Skills will be an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure compliance with Accounting Standards (as issued by MASB) and other relevant accounting standards where applicable, including IRB requirements.
2. Prepare, review and analyse financial statements (Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Cash Flow statements).
3. Prepare periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly and annual).
4. Manage the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and other daily operations of the Accounting Department.
5. Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
6. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
7. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assists in the preparation of audit documentations. Able to prepare tax returns, which is in compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements of IRB (Inland Revenue Board).
8. Assists in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
9. Analyse budget variances and provide recommendations of costs control and financial improvement
10. Perform financial analysis to support business decisions, including variance analysis, trend analysis and cost analysis.
11. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function and implement best practices
12. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including setting performance goals, conducting performance reviews and providing training and development opportunities
13. Communicate financial results and issues to senior management and other stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent (ACCA/AIA).
2. Five (5) years previous experience as account senior executive or in similar post, having supervisory or managerial role
   1. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (Preferred languages are English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese)
3. Solid knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirement, financial reporting, processes, policy, and systems
4. Proficient computer skills in Accounting software (SQL or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with complex transactions with little supervision.
6. Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
7. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
